H2O!!!!

This is a post I put up on a Facebook group that I am an officer of. I would love to send you an invite!

Before you say to yourself “I know everything I need to about water, and I’m not going to take the time to read one more article”- I challenge you to not only read this, but take it to heart. When someone comes to me and wants coaching with their path to wellness, the first thing we talk about is most often water. Water is the most logical topic to begin with, after all your body is up to 60% water!

There are countless reasons why we need our daily serving of H2O. And I’m sad to say that there are not many people getting the amount needed to keep the body at its best. While you may have been aware that headaches are most often caused by dehydration, did you know that proper hydration just may help other situations like: asthma, stress, fatigue, depression, lupus, skin problems, and the list goes on. That’s how important CLEAN water is to your well being.

Dr F. Batmanghelidj, M.D. says “The main causes of dehydration are the drinks we love most, caffeine, alcohol and most soda. The degree to which they are consumed is the degree to which our bodies lose their most life essential nutrients, water and salt which then wash out vitamins, minerals and electrolytes. That’s why our immune systems fail and no drug or procedure can cure a dehydration caused problem.”

Hmmm- so no drug can “cure” dehydration? And water is cheap and readily available?? Then why are you not drinking your share??? Some of the questions most often raised are how much do I need? Does juice, coffee, tea count? What’s the best kind of water? How can I best hydrate?

• The recommendation is ½ ounce per pound of body weight. A 200 pound person needs 100 ounces of water EACH and EVERY day.

• NO other liquid counts. NONE.

• The best water is the “clean” kind. I am not going to give “brand” recommendations, but I will tell you this. Make SURE that you are not buying into the “added” vitamins and minerals. They are most likely synthetic, and therefore not good for your body. Do look into filters. I prefer to filter at home and use a “safe” water bottle.

• I’ve included a website that you can find a lot of useful information on. Do know that the “best” way to hydrate is not by “sipping”, but rather to “drink” the water. Divide your daily intake by 5 or 6. DRINK your water down. Wait about a half hour then eat your meal or snack. Wait 2- 2 1/2 hours before repeating. (of course, people with kidney trouble should not follow this rule.)• Another added tip you will find on Dr B’s website is the addition of Sea Salt. I personally follow this rule, as does my husband.

• When you just have to have that coffee, glass of wine, or soda (uuggghhh!!!)- do the following. It will help a bit. Drink twice the amount of that item in water- in addition to your daily water. Example: Personally, the “trick” I use is to drink 16 ounces of water for each glass of wine I project that I’ll be consuming. I normally limit myself to one or two glasses at the most. Doing this, I never wake up with that “cotton” or “foggy” feeling.

For further information, I would recommend you visit this site: http://www.watercure2.org/ . There is no product to buy, just loads of good information that you can use! The website is up-dated almost daily. I recommend looking into the “Water Cure” Recipe that Dr F. Batmanghelidj, M.D has posted. Personally I began this back last summer, and my husband in October.

CHALLENGE: for the next 6 weeks, I challenge you to consume the proper amount of CLEAN water for your body. Let’s check back in and see how we’re all doing. Are you in??

To your well being!
